Dastis claims Spain charges tax on Catalonia proporcionally to what the latter generates (20 % Spanish GDP) but that Catalonia also receives revenue from Spain proportionally to its autonomous comunity POPULATION (Catalonia has 16 % of Spain's population). I mean, he could simply tell the journalist is right and that the main reason why Spain does not even allow an autodetermination referendum is grounded in making sure the Catalan Colony remains feeding Madrid with money.

It's not about Catalonia leaving Spain, this is about the EU trying to preserve itself.

Spain is a democratic country internationally recognized as such. Two of Spain’s seven founding fathers, responsible for the country’s current constitution, are of Catalan origin. Our constitution is based on the indissoluble unity of the Spanish nation. Its ratification in 1978 was the result of a broad consensus across diverse parties, including the Catalan nationalists of Puigdemont’s party, and received support from over 90 percent of the Catalan voters in a referendum.

Why don't they let them just vote when the vote is illegal? I think the government fear the results.

It seems to me that the interviewer was trying to steer the questions to benefit the Catalunian referendum. His questions were bias against Spain.

That has nothing to do with self-determination. the Referendum is illegal and against the law! they should respect the meaning of a Democracy, that means respect the Spanish law and rules

under actual law it might be unconstitutional, but the minister himself declared that amendments CAN be done... after tomorrow's step, others will follow and finally Spain will have to accept what it does not want to see... AND EUSKADI is the next to follow... (and Scotland, Bretagne, Corsica...etc?) National states were formed more than once and they can be redesigned anytime! Let's hope that spanish society is sufficiently mature to reach a good arrangement. As a basque latin american I really hope so!
