We had the same exact tedder as you do for a long time, worked well. We upgraded to a New Holland Dig Drive tedder 6 years ago now.

We had one like it and loved it. I think you driving one gear too fast. Ours really fluffed the hay nicely.

I had a Grimm. Same concept, but wheel drive

An older gentleman near me takes the windows together and then fluffs it. It’ll pick more up rather then just the top. Looks like the grass is too low and isn’t really picking it up

I just purchased the same model tedder actually. I did so with the intention of being able to ted after raking to build it up and keeping the windrows in place. That being said, I would like to get a 4 star as well, but found the Pequea too cheap to pass up (though you might not agree any price is too cheap eh?)

That thin cut honestly didnt need tedding. I wouldnt waste the diesel covering that field for what you get back outta the effort/expense.

your grass hay isn't thick enough for that tedder to matter as the single tines drift straight through it without much movement, if you rolled 2 rows together first it would fluff better but 2 rows together takes longer to dry. increase the speed of the reel or slow the tractor speed. If there was some alfalfa in there with the grass it would fluff for sure.

Old grim tedders aren't meant to move hay it's meant to only turn and fluf it. You are moving too fast and looks like it may be too high also. We have a Grim we run behind an old Farmall super c and it works better than our 4 star behind the Deere 6400

you should Test German equipment, they are years ahead, when it comes to making hay or silage.
But surely kost a bit more.

Those tedders sucked 40 yrs ago! I cant believe anybody still uses them let alone companies still making them. I have seen dealer asking 4k for those POS. A 2 tine rotary tedder is 2500
