Large Stirling Engine Water Cooled Parabolic Mirror Solar Power Electric Generator

Показать описание
This is a larger Stirling engine powered by concentrated solar is water cooled. It has a 12v DC Permanent Magnet motor operating fixed as the flywheel bearing and is powered by a large 36" Parabolic Mirror.
It produces 15 Volt max with NO LOAD. This setup as is produces about 15 watts. The heat sink is a water cooled tank that is a bit short for the displacement piston but does work. I will be adding some heat sinks soon and testing it with the 56 inch dish and a Fresnel Lens. The motor/generator has an additional pulley that the other engine I have may be tied to. The water can be fed continuously or as a tank.

As something of an electric vehicle buff, I'm fairly familiar with DC electric motors. You may want to check that you have the motor turning in the correct direction; it will generate current in either direction, but it will generate more current (and less resistive heat) when turning in one direction rather than the other due to the internal brushing attitude.

This is way more practical than burning stick and melting bits of broken glass, I'm looking forward to seeing the future videos with this engine. This video has just earned you one more subscriber!

Your on the right track using mirrors. Mirrors last longer than fresnel lenses.

Also, I suggest that you paint the collector on the stirling engine with heat proof black paint.

How the hell are these not used more than what they are now?

These are brilliant

A Fresnel and Parabolic mirror are similar in power within a few % depending on mirror quality and Lens clarity. Both will work.

It's a beautiful vision, thanks for the fun. Good vibrations from Peckham in London, we're with you all the way.

Working on a large water cooled #Stirling   #Engine   like this one again.

Yes, there is, they are more compact and lighter. The free piston engines designed to be very efficient and lightweight use these type of alternators. NASA has a bunch of information on these, and Sunpower and Infinia both make these type of engines. Check out mowerofdoom's videos...he has an engine with one...actually there are a number of videos with linear alternators.

well. if you have a small house with about 4 lights... it would take 12 of these to provide lighting. you would need a battery system so you can use the lights at night. but with those taken care of it might make enough of a impact on the power bill. replacing ~60 watts of non renewable with renewable. this guy is doing good work and i hope he keeps at it ^^

Right now some leds or trickle charge. The engine can handle a brief short, enough for a spark but will stop if you keep it together. The cool side needs some work, this will add power.

This is what i have in mind, good job! 💯

Excellent! It's nice to know that I'm not the only one thinking of modern aplications of these and the steam engines. Great vids!

Why do people dislike this? it works, what more do you need?

That's true. Less maintenance is a big advantage to solar. Combinations are always good. I have thought about doing a combo of solar panel and wind generator.

My brother did a feasibility study on this for his capstone, this is pretty cool

I support your decision to offer this your support.

im gonna do my own engine and make it out of square aluminum, thus no lathe needed. i dunno why everyone ive seen is stuck on the pre-conceived notion that they have to be dunno. i will engineer one and send one to Dan i live in Miami, fl, pretty close.... good luck and keep up the inspiring work.

I couldnt belive I was the first to imagine this and of course someone already make it

Hot oil and a parabolic trough system could use a large thermous for heat storage. Oil is good at transfering heat to many engines.

Please bring such devices to Burning Man and show the world how to be radically self-reliant.
