I'm using an extremePro card with a hero 9 and I'm still having plenty of freezing issues. Initially, I thought it might be something to do with the batteries, as I have used some aftermarket ones, to start with, but for the last 6 months or so, I've purely only used original gopro batteries and still have freezing issues.

The Sandisk Extreme is actually listed as one of the recommended cards on the official GoPro site for the Hero 11. So this should not be the issue! This video is a reminder that one person’s experience is not a data set.

You are correct - GoPro 10 - set to high bit rate - 4 k 120 frames - will require a faster SD Card - I like using 256 gig cards SanDisk extreme pro

Thanks for suggestion, I'll check that too (I've just ordered the new one SanDisk 64GB Extreme PRO instead of 128GB SanDisk Extreme). I do hope it will help, otherwise I'll need to ping GoPro support... Got my Hero 10 a month ago, and noticed that 3 of my videos froze :( And that is really Overall I have to admit that GoPro has poor quality cams :( During last month I did notice 3 different bugs with it (and I do use that latest 1.20 firmware on it).
1) Frame freeze ( Simply the half of 20 min recording is recorded with exactly same Frame, the only sound was recorded properly.... and camera did not give me any suggestion it does not record properly.... So I was thinking it is recording fine, BUT it fu**ed up a half of I do hope it will be fixed after SD card replacement.
2) During one of cold snowboarding rides the camera stabilisation simply disabled itself I am sure it was enabled before the start of recording, but as a result video without stabilisation was recorded.... I've tried to fix stabilisation digitally, but it sucks
3) I did have a situation twice that camera completely froze during recording.... I mean it was completely unresponsive and did not react to any button. The only way was to remove the battery and restart the camera....

Thats pathetic to release so unstable product, which is called an "ACTION CAMERA". People are trying to record AN IMPORTANT MOMENTS OF THEIR LIFE using this shit camera! If the issue is related to SD Card - GoPro team should loudly cry that THIS IS THE ONLY FUC**ING SD CARD YOU SHOULD USE, otherwise YOU'LL END UP WITHOUT RECORDED MOVIE!

I'll let you know if my issues were solved after the SD card replacement.

People buy cards online expecting they are actually the card they look like or the ink they are. Half the cards online are fakes.

I've been using the Sandisk Ultra I had laying around in my 9 for a year and have been fortunate enough to not have any issues. Tho, that is just a single data point... I did buy some extreme pros just to be on the safe side. for the most part, faster is always better.

Had 3 GoPros and they have ALL crashed - but then again I went for the same SD card (the recommended one!!) time and time again...crashes - thanks for this - will dig out my old gopro!!

Sandisk with V30 and A2 support made the touch and UI a little smoother. Just my experience having used the old A1 and C10 versions of cards.

Thank you! I just got a GoPro 10 was so frustrated, because it froze after using it sparingly within a couple of hours. I used the card that was sent in with the kit. I really was thinking of returning it, if the card does not fix it, I will have to. It would not be worth the money to have it freezing up!

Thank you, I hadn't done much with GoPro and had a 4 that just replaced with an 11. It was locking up and freezing and I kept thinking connection issues but changed my sandisc express to pro endurance and good to go. What a relief as I was thinking of selling it and buying another camera. I appreciate it.

I used to own the Hero+LCD and it used to drive me mad locking up ALL THE TIME most of the videos I shot were of me moaning about the reliability....I had a class 10 microsd card installed but at the time I didn't realises that all class 10s are not equal, at the time GP just said use a class 10 card....after doing some more research I invested in a better card and NEVER had another problem 👍

I use the Lexar Silver 1066x in my 9 and 10 and they work perfect.

Thanks for I just received my 10 and I popped in a new SanDisk Extreme Pro just like you showed and I got the error after shooting 4 different short shots. I did format in camera before shooting. This freaked me couldn't believe it! All was 5.3K 60fps linear + HL w/ Hypersmooth Boost. I then reformatted the card and shot at least another 6 shots around five minutes no problem. I have always used Sandisk SD cards in my cameras and my DJI MA, never ever had an issue. I sure hope this was a one time glitch due to buying four of these cards. yep - a better sd-card is always a good idea! the native instruments "maschine+" also benefits a lot from it <3

It came from write speed sdcard, how much mbps sdcard gopro needs on every resolution and fps. Specification sdcard just up-to write speed. Same issue old days recording FHD on class 4 or 8, camera auto stop recording. I recomend minimum V30, because this type sdcard focused for video recording, on video detail on media info, there is two type a fixed bitrate and variable bitrate

maybe all those guys complaining about hero 9 freezing actually carried forward their slower SD cards from their previous action cameras which caused the issues. I used a brand new sandisk extreme pro on my hero 9 last year and it never freezed on me once. Used the same card in my hero 10, no issues at all
