DIY, How To Fix Dog's Cherry Eye

Cherry eye is irritation and subsequent prolapse of the third eye lid. There are 4 procedures to fix it. The causes and treatment are explained. It can look like a red lump or bulge in the corner of a dog's eye.

Treatment advice is for all dog breeds: French Bulldogs, Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds, Poodles etc.

Just a suggestion, keep eyedrops on hand. I lubricate the eye with the eye wash before i massage it back into place. Also, a warm wash cloth over the eye while you massage it helps.

This helped! My grandmother can't afford any sort of surgery right now for him. So I pushed it back in. Yay! Luckily it's only been like 3 days so it wasn't big

I have fixed this several times with one of my Frenchie's with a warm wet cloth in circular motions. It should be done right away so the owners should be told not to leave it for days. Truly the warm cloth is a really easy fix. I believe that in some cases moisture eye drops can help if it is not working but it is usually just with a warm wet face cloth in circular motions and it pops back really quickly.
I am finding that my kids cherry eye has happened twice when a puppy, and twice more much later. I believe that it is from possible stress. I have come home to it and fixed it right away. It is super easy if the owner does this right away the longer it's left the dog may need vets help or other things like you suggested

Just did this with my dog again today. After a few days of persistent attempts, I finally got it back in. The vet says it's not going to be a lifelong fix, so think of this as a bandaid, not a lifetime fix. And some owners just do this two, three times a month in lue of surgery. This video helped me so much! My dog had her second cherry eye today. The first time it went away on it own. This time it wasn't. I massaged and it wouldn't go in. Lucky for my u had steriods from when i adopted her and she was being treated for heartworms and i gave her those. The swelling wemt down and i just popped it back in. I will mention this to her vet but Im so glad my baby doesnt have this irritation anymore today!! Thankyou!

One of my Weimaraner pups developed this problem, she did not have it at birth, it happened from playing with the other pups and she got her ‘eyelid’ scratched so the vet did what’s called the ‘pocket technique’ and I watched him stitch it and repair it!! The Suture material he used was as thin as a human hair he told me. The Pup healed up very well.
I did have other vets tell me you have to do both eyes because if it happens in one it’ll happen to the other, but that is not true and that’s what the vet told me who did the repair you don’t have to do both eyes. 👍🏻
