I've watched a few other reviews or first looks, and none pointed out these shortcomings. I've never been an Ubuntu fan, and that's not about to change, despite improvements. I prefer Arch-based. To each their own.

@8:00 the failure of the clipboard is actually a GNOME bug not a firefox bug. GNOME seems to keep the clipboard state in the app and only put a pointer to that state in the clipboard, so when the app closes the clipboard state dies with the app. Even if you install a persistent clipboard tool like clipman etc, the copy never actually hits the clipboard unless you successfully paste it once before you close the source app. This is not new and this has been driving people crazy ever since GNOME 3 rose to infamy/popularity. Sadly, this bug persists even if you install a different window manager, as it's the GNOME UI libraries that Firefox is relying on which implements this insane behaviour. I've been able to reliably crash "Files" by renaming a zip file that has a thumbnail from the console while its parent directory is being viewed in Files.

It's both amazing and sad how so much of the user experience is dragged down by the insistence on snaps. If they worked as well as other packaging formats, then it seems like this review would have looked very different. I don't know if they are also the cause of the long boot time in this case, but they are know to contribute to that.

When it comes to the clipboard Wayland bug, it seems like it stems from GTK and will be fixed when Firefox and other affected apps upgrade to the fixed version. That is to say, it's a universal issue and not just on Ubuntu.

I installed Kubuntu from a USB that I'd created with dd onto a multi-boot Linux system and didn't have any issues (UEFI). It does boot slowly however. I have had a lot of other problems with booting from ISOs copied to USB with dd, mainly Windows, some Linux distros.

I personally would prefer to keep everything in APT, but understand that there are issues with that. Firefox is my main app too.

So far K/Ubuntu is working well for me although it's not my main distro. I'm running the GNOME variant in a VM.

Great to see your channel thriving!

3:48 I don't understand. you say it takes 35 seconds to boot and we see it took 44.691 seconds. was it two different system, one took 35 seconds and this one took 44.691 seconds?

He's back!!!! Did you remember how to operate your video editing software? hahahaha Glad to see you again. Best wishes for your family.
Just say no to Ewebuntu. While I prefer MX, there are several distros that are dependable for daily driver better than Ewebuntu.

It's very plaisant when a youtuber explain why an OS is ugly. With your examples, iut's so easy to understand. RM Stallman says : "it's time to stop using Ubuntu"; I think it's for snap issues and performance. Thanks

When I installed Ubuntu 22.04 and tried to open firefox it took 5 seconds to load on a nvme ssd... I noticed immediately the worst have been made and installed firefox-esr via the ppa. It's terrible that canonical still push snap on lts versions despite all the issues

I have lived with 22.04 for a week now. My experience with the Grub boot loader is problematic. Previous versions just worked. This version makes me have to deal with the uefi partician manually. Formerly, grub took care of everything. In order to get sterio sound, I have to load openal and install manually. Former versions took care of this. It looks like the use of PipeWire for sound needs some work in this version of Ubuntu. In order for Java to work properly, libFuse2 must be installed manually. Formerly, it was included. I use linux for flight simulation. The above issues are so annoying to me that I have gone back to the current version of Mint Cinnamon because everything just works. Canonical, get these kinds of things sorted out before you release a new version.

I abandoned Ubuntu due to several problems with Snap, in addition to the non-updates of the core Gnome applications. I switched to Fedora and luckily everything has been fine so far :)

As I don't care for snaps, I will continue to only install Ubuntu systems in virtual machines, for testing purposes.
I'll stick with Mint as my primary Linux system on all my computers.

Hi, nice video 👍
I think that ubutnu 22.04 was not ready to release, like windows 8 was not ready in that sense that all development stuff was not ready.
In ubuntu 22.04 snap environment is not ready. Snap uses multipass (like docker) images to create packages, and they provided only ubuntu 20.04 as the newest version of the image :/
Funny thing is that when I build a program locally it works (because it uses local toolchains) when I build a snap package it uses toolchains from 20.04 and the program doesn't work.

My system is so slow now that I get 'blah is not responding, wait or close' on almost everything I open. New kernel didn't help. Not a fan of 22.04.

If Ubuntu lasted longer on laptop battery I would use it as my daily. I wonder if there are any improvements with battery and power optimization? I think that is the best thing that attracts users at this time.

I had the SAME install issue. Thought it was just my hardware. Using a Thinkpad X1 Carbon that had no problems installing Ubuntu form USB for previous versions. I gave up and installed Mint.
