Does God Need Us to Worship Him?

God is an infinite, perfect, communion of persons, responsible for the intentional creation of everything around us - which begs the question, if God is perfect, why does he need us to worship him?

Well, he actually doesn’t. God doesn’t need us to worship him because there is nothing he lacks. Which leads to another question: why do we worship God if he doesn’t need us to? Fr. Mike answers this today, drawing from the earliest books of the Bible.

I’ve struggle with the worship thing for awhile now. I always thought the church saying it’s necessary to worship makes God out to be needy and like a tyrant. I never thought about it being for us as a tool to strengthen our relationship with him. This video definitely cleared that up for me.

Re: Bible in a year pod casts. Father Mike - thank you so much! My husband is in the RCIA program, so I got him the Bible in a year Bible for Christmas, because he had never read the Bible. After weeks of following the pod casts he came to me in the kitchen a few days ago and said “feel this Bible, it’s so soft, so comforting to hold”. I have a hard time describing the look on his face when ever he holds the Bible, it’s an expression of ownership, joy and belonging. He belongs to God and God belongs to him. Beautiful.  
I read the Old Testament when I was in my 20’s and tbh, I found it confusing. Now, we both read and follow each and every pod cast lesson and everyday we have these amazing “ah ha” moments. We are learning so much and each day welcoming God into our lives on a deeper level, a deeper understanding.

I thank you so much for your beautiful reading voice and explaining/teaching us the books of the Bible. After each lesson we are excited and can’t wait for the next! What a wonderful year this will be. Thank you for praying for us each day and I in turn pray for you each day. God bless you Father Mike and God bless us all.

I came to this video because I was literally searching for the answer to this question. I am searching for understanding in my relationship with God. I have many questions though I long to know Him. I appreciated this video not only for the answer but because I came to my own through it. Gratitude is the word that connects for me. Praise and joy and worship; I realize it's somewhat semantics. Yet for me, I am grateful for life and thus I must show thanks in whatever way pleases he who gives.
