Thank you for sharing this. I was able to repair my shower head on my own. I did use some CLR to get rid of some of the build up. As an older woman, it was great to be able to do this repair all by myself.

Thank you for explaining about pulling the diverter a few times to get the seal in place! I just replaced my faucet but was unable to figure out what I why I couldn't get it to work as I was positive I had put it on correctly. You're the only person in the many videos I watched that explained this...thank you!

Thanks for the tip! My problem was mostly the shaft on the pull knob was gummed up so I cleaned it with steel wool and used a small wire brush to clean the inside of the spout. Works great now.

Thank you so much for this helpful video! Filing down the mineral deposits inside of the diverter was enough to get my shower working again with the existing washer and parts. I will probably go get a kit to get a fresh washer, but this tip got me back the use of my shower in the meantime. You saved me an expensive call to a plumber, and it feels great to have been able to fix this myself. Many thanks!

Thank you for this video. I'm a caregiver for 5 grandchildren and our faucet was pouring water when I turn the shower on. Your video is extremely helpful. My 12 year old grandson is getting a good lesson on how to help me repair it thanks to your video.

Don’t get in a rush like me. I had the slip on kind and followed his method but he doesn’t mention a set screw at the beginning of the video, he just starts twisting. I damaged the copper pipe and now hope there are no leaks when I reinstall the cleaned up diverter.

Worked perfectly for me... I had the exact same style spout. Removed the diverter parts and filed and cleaned the build up - also used a little CLR lime and rust remover. Placed the spout back into place successfully - The first time I pulled the diverter - water continued to leak from the spout - Per recommendation - Pulled it 2 or 3 times. On the last pull, the diverter seated successfully and ALL the water diverted to the shower head instantly and WITHOUT a drip from the spout! Thank U Thank U - I was just on my way to the hardware store and you saved me a trip! Gratefully! TJ

Thanks much for this helpful video!! You saved us $$$. We didn't need a plumber or a new tub spout, just a new diverter kit and a product to remove lime scale from the inside.

Thank you so much for this video!!! I live in an apartment where I have a slumlord and I was so scared when the tub broke I thought I wasn’t going to be able to shower properly, I found this video last summer when the tub faucet originally broke and I was able to fix it within seconds, it broke again last night and I remember this video and I literally just fixed it in less than a minute. Thank you so much this was extremely helpful. If me a girly girl with super long nails can do this without any tools and anybody can do this seriously. Thank you again you are wonderful!

If you're having trouble getting the white prongs apart, consider unscrewing the top part of the silver diverter knob, and pushing the interior white structure and washer out the bottom of the tap, as opposed to opening the prongs with pliers. Pretty sure that's how it was supposed to be done. (On the type I have at least, which looks pretty much exactly like this one from what I can see.)

Also something I didn't realize right away? On the bottom of the tap there might be a screw tightened to hold it to the wall pipe that you have to unscrew first before the tap will turn and come off the wall. Looks like his has a spot for it, but perhaps the screw just wasn't there/wasn't tightened.

Many Thanks! You saved me a call to my landlord. I had to tweak things more, but learning how to take this apart is very valuable.

Wow...a quick 10 minute fix without wasting money for a new set up. Thanks! Much appreciated!

This worked for me, without having to remove the spout - my diverter simply unscrewed from the top. It doesn’t divert 100% of the wager but I’ll happily settle for 95%. Thanks for your help!
