these are called "communicating vessels" and these vessels get the same pressure, and the pressure dipends on the density (you've used the same liquid for both vessels), the gravity (the same 'cause the vessels are in the same Planet) and the height (if density and gravity are the same for both liquid, darely the height is the same too)

The reason behind this to happen is
because gravity is pulling water down on both sides of the bend and the straw is acting like siphons.

Siphon is basically a tube used to convey liquid upwards from a reservoir and then down to a lower level of its own accord 👍

this process is known as Siphon. this happens because after putting the pipe in the vessel there creat a connection between two vessels and to maintain the fluid level this happened.

It happens when you primed the plastic straw and gave it a head start it creates a vacuum which siphons all the water. I personally use it for changing the water in my tank
