Hi, Mexican here. There are some things that I would like Americans to understand.

1.- Most people that cross illegally are not Mexican. Since about 2014 Mexicans represent less than half of the people crossing illegally.

2.- Most Mexicans don't want to migrate to the US. There are 130 million people in Mexico, and many more hundreds of million in all of south America. The life of an immigrant is hard, and the life of an illegal immigrant is even harder. Imagine living a life constantly in fear of being kicked out of the country you call home, the place where against odds you build a life, where you have your friends, and maybe even your family. And that is if you even make it there. As you see here, crossing is no easy task, and if you use the help of a criminal to cross, he can and will likely abuse your position to get money out of you, money that if you had easy access to, you wouldn't be in that position. They are moving to a country with a different language, different culture. And you cant just hop the border every now and then to visit your family back home. Only the desperate and misinformed cross the border, just imagine how awful your life would have to be to think your life would be better if you cross illegally.

3.- When Trump said we don't send our best he was kind of right. If only the desperate and criminals are willing to cross illegally, that's not exactly our best is it? The best, most determined and hard workers maybe. The truth is that for most Mexicans life here is not the best it can be, but is not bad enough to make us go through that.
