Some of you may wonder why certain words use ざかな instead of さかな. This is due to a sound change in Japanese called rendaku."

Rendaku is a common phenomenon in Japanese where the first consonant of the second word in a compound becomes voiced.
* Voiceless → Voiced:
* さ (sa) → ざ (za)
* た (ta) → だ (da)
* か (ka) → が (ga)
* は (ha) → ば (ba) or ぱ (pa)
