The Swedish Academy said the award was in recognition of his "uncompromising and compassionate penetration of the effects of colonialism." Exactly "the Zanzibari". You are the only defining him precisely. He is indeed a Zanzibari from the Malindi quarter of stone town arrived in UK as a migrant teenager in 1968. As such he is not a Tanzanian as Tanzania does not allow dual citizenship but a naturalized British as many other East Guardian!
