Glad you guys enjoyed San Antonio...FYI London born musician Phil Collins is a major contributor to The Alamo in which he donated 200 artifacts he collected over decades in 2014 which they made into a museum

Thank you so much for the respect you gave to an important part of American history. Travis, the commander of the Alamo, was ordered to abandon the Alamo and join with the main force under Sam Houston. He chose to disobey those orders and was joined by other heroes of our Frontier such as Jim Bowie and Davy Crockett. Santa Ana surrounded the Alamo with the whole Mexican Army. The Mexican trumpet call that Santa Anna used against the Alamo to announce no quarter was "El Degüello". The Mexican army killed everyone in the Alamo except for just a few women and children, even those who were wounded and could no longer fight were killed. The defenders of the Alamo held off the Mexican army for 13 days giving Sam Houston precious time to organize his army. Houston retreated for a month from the Mexican army wearing them out and stretching their supply lines before attacking and routing the whole Mexican army. The names of Travis, Bowie, and Crockett are sacred to all Texans as are all the men who fought and died in the Alamo.

So cool to see the Alamo, my favorite Artist was a big Alamo history buff and he donated his own collection of artifacts from the Alamo to the Alamo..the musician I’m referring to is Phil Collins!!

My maternal ancestor was a Lieutenant under General Caldwell. He didn't fight at the Alamo. We have always been interested in Texas history. We lived in San Antonio for a few years. Whenever anyone visited us we had to go to the Alamo, Zoo and the Riverwalk. From your videos there more to see now. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

The church is the center of the Alamo. The church and quadrangle are what the men and women converted into a fortification. You mentioned the church as if it's a side item but that's the one part to go into for sure.
There are signs outside which depict what the land had once appeared as and how it was used. You may not have noticed but there's a lot of history regarding the outside and the area between the Alamo and the Riverwalk.
