I think the problem with the emergency stop test is just how the instructors always say it in the calmest tone literally possible. They should randomly scream stop to get the driver to feel like it’s emergent.

Honestly, I think these videos, where it says "FAILED!" but doesn't clarify why, are partially responsible for bad drivers. There are people in the comments saying it's for not braking hard enough, others say it's because of the mirros, some say because of the blind spots. Yet the person who could give the clear reason ignores everything, instead of using the opportunity to teach people..

On my test, I was told "stop as if there is a car right in front of you". I immediately stopped. Then I was told "not that fast". ??. To this day I have no clue.

She says "stop" so calmly. When I got my driver's license here in Germany and we practiced emergency braking, my driving instructor always shouted: "BREMSEN!", which means "brake". I never missed the emergency brake

This wasnt an emergency, she definitely wasnt acting like theres an emergency, he totally matched her energy.

I dunno maybe she tells the students ahead of time before the exam begins that she is going to do that and theyre expected to make an emergency stop as if they need to stop immediately.

Everyone saying he failed on the stop… actually go back and look how far he took to stop literally 1 and a half car length so no yes he stopped sufficiently locking up your brakes would take you longer im 85% sure at least 50% of people would fail if they had to take their test the next they decided to get in the car

Lol, in my country they don't say stop... The examiner explains the emergency stop is tested by him banging on the dash board. It's to test your reflexes and how fast you are able to push in the clutch pedal and brake at the same time. It was the least challenging part of the test and quite fun. But they don't look around etc to check if it's safe... They generally take you to a suburban road where there is no traffic lol
