"Perceived threats - guessing with no evidence to support it. So when it's a thought like that, we don't give it any value." Thank you for the reminder today.

i have noticed that i tend to try and avoid and push away intrusive thoughts with youtube or just random scrolling on my phone. yesterday, i had about a 20 min walk to anatomy lab and my phone was around 15%. i made a conscious effort to sit with my thoughts as i walked and forced myself to be present in the moment using my 5 senses as the thoughts passed on through. this is something that needs to be talked about more!!!

Man, this video took quite a few times to sink in. I kept questioning if I was avoiding which would bring up the rumination, but after a few times listening, I realized I was listening for help and not listening to distract and now I can fully listen for helpful clues to help figure out how to how to pull myself back out of this new mindset.

Your videos have been a lifesaver. Everyday is a struggle but I’m learning to tolerate that anxiety with ERP and I’m slowly getting better 👍

21 years old, really struggling with distraction thoughts. I always avoided the uncomfortable and stays in the comfortable

When the intrusive thought is not a threat (thoughts) but simply a flash back / re-living of a past anxiety experience. No “thoughts”, just the anxiety feeling comes back. It’s like my brain remembered the feeling and is replaying it. Does this sort of intrusive feeling improve with ERP as well?

I feel like this sometimes feeds into Meta OCD, I do get moments when I start wondering if I'm only doing stuff to avoid whatever, even if I do actually want to do said activity with no evidence to the contrary.

Second guessing everything is hard, man

I’ve started doing this thing called “Worry Free Winter” where I vow to not do a compulsion or address an intrusive thought. It’s been smooth sailing for the most part but I stumble, I want to ask my partner what was the last time I reassurance sought because I don’t want him to remember it.
Do I ask him or is it a compulsion do you think?
Thank you for the help these past two years Nathan, I now suggest your channel to everyone I know with OCD :-)

I distract myself because I am disconnected from my body and reality and I have my body torn apart, I am afraid of myself.

Thank you man. OCD is something you get used to by allowing it.

Somehow your video here made me realize what i missed on my OCD healing journey.

Thanks Nathan!! This so hits home especially the phone checking. I've been more mindful not to be checking phone as much in social situations and going through the feels! Love your vids

TRIGGER WARNING, NAT PLS HELP! I want to self harm it makes me feel better guilt anxiety goes away (punishing myself) when i do that and feels like i have accomplished something or that i am accountable to myself. Also i do have anger issues and end up harming my loved ones both physically and mentally. I dont want to exaggerate my stuff for the sake of myself and anxiety it is what it is and i dont know what next about self harming it almost feels like i SHOULD DO IT rather than I NEED TO DO IT
