Charles outdrew a man who already had his revolver unholstered with a sawed off shotgun. God he was a force of nature.

“ITS THAT BUSINESS OF MINE!!” Man my jaw dropped when Charles just point blank shot the guy

I actually never realised the guy drew before Charles. He must have saw a red dot on his mini map and saved time.

For anybody whos confused: its not about the bison.

This is a reference to something that happened in real life too. The poachers were trying to render bison extinct in an attempt to starve and freeze the local natives who relied on the species for survival to death, paid by the US Government to do so.

Edit: enter the replies with caution. There's a whole lot of people trying to justify or deny the genocide of the natives Americans

Because I'm getting sick of explaining the exact same thing over and over again, here's a quote from a US Government and Army official relating to the topic: "Kill every buffalo you can. Every Buffalo dead is an Indian gone." - Lieutenant Colonel Dodge.

You can tell just how jarring this is from Charles’ usual demeanour because Arthur’s physically flinches when Charles shoots.

Charles is such a calm and collected man
Hearing him actually raise his voice and be pissed off is jarring, in a good way
He respects life and nature, maybe that’s his stereotypical native side, maybe that’s just who he is
And it’s certainly not right to kill animals for the fun of it
But regardless on my playthrough i spared the guy
Charles was on a vengeance and needed to get his head back on straight
After all “revenge is a fools game”

This is an example of how the most chill people are the scariest when they get angry.

Understandable of Charles. If you aren’t able to respect the rules of nature why should he respect the rules of their nature

The voice acting in this game is so phenomenal, even for those npcs they did a really good job

*Edit: *Acting* because it’s performance captured*

Honestly, some ppl don't get the real meaning of this but i don't blame them. The Bison were important for Charles because of his indigenous background. He literally says that "they move when the bison move", and explains that they use the bison for crafting and etc, i can see why he was so mad about it. It's a necessity for his people, not to mention the context in history of killing bison = killing indigenous people as well

I watched my little brother play this yesterday, Charles got upset for sparing the last guy

Like in irl wasting animals that you can eat by just killing them and leaving them to rot is sad and unnecessary

Outdrawing someone with the sawed off pointed at you is just diabolical

Don't ever let anyone deny what happened, the natives hunted bison for food, ritual, and supplies. Whereas everyone else hunted them for sport. Leaving piles of corpse and only taking the trophies back home.

This was a deliberate tactic to wipe the natives out, and if you deny this you are either willfully ignorant or something much more insidious.

I love Charles. He is simultaniously so cold yet so caring depending on Whether or not you Cross him.
