Fast and Easy Dovetails for the flower box : Live
Показать описание
tonight we are moving on with the flower box and we will be doing the dovetails. this is a topic that scares a lot of people but fast and east hand cut dovetails are possible. This is the second video int he Flower box build and we are covering the whole thing live.
Winner of last weeks challenge: Derek Atkins who guessed 83 planes. the exact number.
00:00:00 James Wright: What are we going to do today?
18:00 Don T: Would it be better to put the top one right in line with the marking line on the bottom one? That way you have an edge to cut against for the bottom one.
22:00 Paul Beiler: What kind of wood are you using?
23:00 Tim _BBQ: What is your lettering scheme? L F B?
25:00 R. Tawney: Have you talked about that turbo twin screw vise and what do you think about it?
29:00 Greg Cheng: The dovetailing class I took, the teacher stated that you should chisel in slightly deeper than the knife line. Do you know what the reasoning behind that would be?
35:00 Jim Dockrell: Are you cutting off the pins on the pin board?
36:00 Jack Beeson: What things do you have to do differently to get a good tight fit when dovetailing in a soft wood like pine as opposed to working with a hardwood like oak?
42:00 Moonwolf71: Do you undercut to leave wiggle room when you go to put the joints together?
44:00 Ray Flowers: Would a 1 1/2” wooden screw be good enough for a chop on a leg vise? It’d be a maple dowel of course.
46:00 James Carthew: Why do people use holdfasts? I don't think I've ever seen one hold anything for long. I prefer G-clamps.
48:00 Don T: Have you ever used one of those dovetail holding boards like David Barron uses? I'm wondering if they are worth it.
50:00 Jack Beeson: Since pine compresses more than a hardwood would you make your dovetails slightly tighter?
