If you take the first piece after making the first cut and flip it, then place that cut over the wood strip, you can push your second piece up against the first to get the perfect distance for the initial cut in the second piece. Be sure to remove the first piece before making the cut to avoid grazing the edge. Then flip the first piece back over and continue with both pieces.

I really appreciate that you cut the intersecting sides at the same time. Harder to mess them up but I expect I can find a way.

Well I've not seen both sides cut at the same time like that before. That's a good tip all by itself!

I'd just like to make a comment about Ridge Carbide. On Stumpys recommendation I bought a blade from them. I had a mental malfunction filling out my address and completely missed the drop down box for what state I live in. By default it went with the first selection which if I remember right was District of Columbia. Half an hour later I got a phone call from them trying to straighten out my address. That is excellent customer service. They were literally working on my order within half an hour of me ordering and called just to verify and correct my mistake. The blade did arrive very quickly and is beyond comparison from the factory blade I was using. I feel like a doctor who was using a butter knife and is now using a precision scalpel. The difference between the two blades is astounding. Thank you Stumpy for the excellent videos and advice.

Great video, particularly as I am a huge fan of saving money & simplicity. This idea gets 5-stars on both. Thank you!

Thank you much. One for helping to make a simple jig, and two save me money. I’m retired but I love making sawdust reducing big pieces to small pieces

I like the way you cut both pieces together. Very helpful time saver tip.

Been racking my brain about whether to spend the $$'s on a jig for some joints I want to do on a sewing box for my wife. This looks like it will do the job for this newby and make me a rock (or maybe wood) star! Thanks!

I've watched a dozen videos on this exact method, but yours (as usual) is the most straight forward and easy to put into practice. Thank you!

That was probably the best explanation on a simple box joint jig I've seen, thanks.

Really concise finger joint how to and the sled/jig is easy to make too - thanks for sharing!

Thanks, I like cutting both sides of the joint at once. Efficient and accurate. I prefer a table saw for finger joints. I have trouble with tear-out on the router table.

Fair dinkum simple explanations - you are a joy to watch. I’m always a little disappointed when I get up in the morning sit down to eat my breakfast and you haven’t posted a new video 😆Thanks for efforts.

I have just watched about 5 of these types of videos. There are some entertaining videos out there, but this was by far the most useful and managed to say everything the other videos did plus more (why doesn't everyone cut both sides at once?) in much less time. Thanks!
