In today's video I share with you the daily routines of my life in Summer, as part of my zero waste lifestyle. A weekend in London, a Summer harvest of potatoes, and other seasonal goods, what I eat in a day and extreme minimalist packing for another weekend in London before a solo bike packing trip coming up! I'm trying to live as sustainably as possible by growing my own food, learning from zero waste items I regret buying, lessons on minimalism and what I've learned trying to live sustainably for 5+ years.

My grandfather was a potato farmer and he always harvested his potatoes after the foliage dies down - it is a good indication that they are ready to harvest. I always plant different kinds of potatoes ranging from early to late. The earlier potatoes are smaller, and taste more delicately and sweet but are hard to store. You can store the late potatoes for way longer, so you can eat home-grown potatoes all winter.

have you ever eaten the squash blossoms at grow at the tip of zucchini? they're so delicious! I usually just google something like "stuffed vegan squash blossoms" and make some kind of vegan feta concoction, stuff the flower, fold it gently shut, bake them for a short time, and drizzle with agave or balsamic vinegar. it always feels like a really special meal!

The music… I couldn’t help but notice the touching and heartfelt lyrics in the background song… so suiting for the direction you and your partner will soon be embracing…
“Love is a journey, we’ll steady the course
Fight for each other no matter the score
Through the heartache we’ll carry the love that we swore
If you just take my hand…
For the rest of our lives!!”

Yesterday my husband went on a business trip again and we will be separated for 2-3 months. Even though we've been together for 21 years it never gets easier. With 2 kids a lot is on my plate but I keep telling myself that I am strong and I can do this.
Keep my mind busy with work, newfound love for plants and a bit of gardening, decluttering as a way of purging...
So this morning when I watched your new video - harvesting in the garden and being honest about just crying your feelings out - just felt so close to you and wanted to give you a hug.
Keep going, my friend - you are strong enough!

August is the best month… part Summer, part Autumn… wild swimming, cycling, hiking, garden goodness, canning & preserving… and there’s still plenty of time to distance those “back to school” and “pack my lunch” thoughts. Love these Premieres Immy… looking forward to the Live Chat 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♂️🚶🏻‍♀️😎

I’ve been living on visas for the last almost 10years and it’s by the far the biggest stress in my life. It pulls me out of the present and into the future and I often feel like I am living on borrowed time. It controls me not being able to make big decisions like buying a home, or studying (international study fees are a disgrace!) But, it’s also simultaneously the best decision I’ve made. Because when your soul finds the place it knows your body is home in, then all the time, worries and stress become nothing. Good luck with your process 🌼🤍🌞

My parents moved to the states with just three suitcases back in the day by deciding to not take any furniture or homewares. It’s a little easier since you guys will eventually go back to the uk but if you’ve only got a couple boxes it shouldn’t be too bad to freight. As you said, you’ll either pay to freight it or to re buy it so why not use what you have. Also consider, anything you do leave behind, will it still be relevant or functional or up to date in 5+ years time. Things like tech for example changes quickly and may be worth more to sell now than to keep.

Harvesting potatoes is one of my absolute FAVORITE gardening tasks! It really is like digging for treasure, especially to me since it was one of the first ways that I helped my dad in the garden as a little kid. We just harvested a bunch of fingerling potatoes that were all volunteers! We almost pulled them up but I'm so glad we didn't because it meant there was more treasure to find haha! Been loving the slower more vlog-style videos! Seeing you harvest then cook and eat food from your garden is so wonderful

Watching your videos has helped me to think differently about how I use my resources more wisely and saves me money. When someone helps me to think differently and question what I believe I appreciate it. This world is a very material world and I have thought so covetously of what I buy and I never really questioned much of the disposable products that I used and am in the process of buying things that are reusable instead of buying things disposable like bladder control pads. I also found a pattern to make my own reusable pads and other reusable products online.

Dearest Immy, my now-husband (bf at the time) also did 2 years LDR. It was so hard, I cried a lot too and it felt like it took aaaages to get back together. But now being together and married and sharing a home, it feels like the time apart went by in a flash. And it was SO worth the wait.

The talk about your boyfriend was relatable for me since I haven’t seen my boyfriend for 2 years because eod Covid. I have a little cry from time to time too! We are not alone ☺️

We always harvest just after the flowers have dropped, if you leave a couple in they will continue to grow through the winter and you may get some bigger than bricks :) We always grow too many so leaving some in is best then you can have them whenever you like :) x

Potatoes are so much fun to grow! Every spud you get out of the soil is the coolest! I've done it even on my windowsill in an old potting-soil bag. So cool to see your garden in such a bloom!

I feel you.
I feel the joy in that smirk when you were digging potatoes.
I feel the need of a bike packing trip (my dream is to go London/Rome-home to home, but I'm afraid I'll never be able to).
I feel all the take on being in a long distance relationship and looking forward to be together forever (been there, nearly there girl, it'll be awesome).
I sort of feel you when you talk about the visa process and moving (currently stuck while waiting for my settled status in UK and planning to move with my boyfriend back to Italy-interrupted temporarily for the pandemic).

So, big hug Immi 💖💖💖

Also, gorgeous tabby cat adores you, she's always around you 😍

Love Yours content! Makes me feel instantly calm and focused. Happy for Your gardening! And it's not silly at all-you are to be proud of being able to grow your food and for being able to provide for you, but also for your loved ones. Even in such a "small" part. Actually non so small. And gardenind is an amazing adventure! Cheers!
