Don't use the fake TL launcher! There's such a messy story behind it, but tl;dr; they stole original launcher's code, trademarked the name (thanks for russian broken legal systems) and sent takedowns everywhere they could so their fake launcher would show up in search engines first and original wouldn't at all; not only that, they also tried to take down a launcher for terraria that shared the name (because Terraria + Launcher = TLauncher). People behind this are very malicious and did problematic things in the past (like they provided installers that would put their competitors in the hosts file), they continue doing them in the present (they scammed people for big money with ads, and also remove servers they don't like from players' servers lists).

I used to just use a script to open the game directly without using launchers and stuff. Really handy but it doesnt seem to load modded correctly anymore. weird
