I didn’t make a YouTube mistake by subscribing to you 😊

The biggest mistake that I made was letting haters bring my motivation down. You gotta stand up for your channel and accept the fact that there are people in this world who can't stand seeing others succeed. My advice? Keep uploading videos and get better and better and prove them wrong!!! 💪🏻

Something I've been doing that helps me feel sane making thumbnails: I LOVE to take screenshots of thumbnails from videos I enjoy from my favorite creators and toss them in an excel. When I'm feeling stuck in the design process, I go back and look at them and try to take apart what elements are the most eyecatching to me that day. Test new stuff though! You'll be surprised what does and doesn't work lol!

spidey needs a name!
now on to my thoughts:

rob, imho you are doing great outside your scripted comfort zone -> really human, really getable, nicely peculiar and wonderfully authentic.

I love it!

sure you may come across more frightened or nervous etc but f that.

are YOU feeling different with this more open style? maybe deep down even a little bit more free?

if so: give us more of this version of rob.

funny that you mentioned thinkmedia since i thought during this vid:
hey, this feels like a british version of sean without the usual "like if you get value" during a sentence ;)

best wishes from germany.

Your videos are so good I am very suprised you have only 40 % average watchtime. I almost always watch the entire video. If you get around 40%, then I can't imagine the percentage of less talented creators.
Don't you think creators worry too much about being perfect? Most people have short attention spam and will just leave irregardles how good the video is.

Even as a 2 year long YouTuber that created daily videos I still watch your videos not only cus they are educational but also entertaining. Thanks Rob 😄

i often make short videos like 3second to 1minute
cuz in my opinion, youtube often recommends short videos, and i noticed im earning 10 to 15 watch hours a week, which is pretty good that i haven't experienced before, and i think that's the yt algorithm in 2021 (in my experience)

Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result: your first year on YouTube 😂

I personnaly script all of my videos, and even though i tried non-scripted content before, and it actually did pretty well, i am still afraid to get out of my confort zone.

Big kudos to you for taking the risk, it really inspires me.

Loved this video, been full of doubts this week (although I love making my videos). I just hate most of my thumbnails, no matter how hard I seem to work at them... That's going to be my main aim this year to try and improve them (I have a chronic illness, so I am slow at learning and implementing things). I've also just worked out how to do an opening credit (only taken me 2 years :) ) I loved what you said about 1 mistake is not going to ruin your channel, I feel mine is just a bit of a mess since I started adding shorts.

I always design at least 2 or 3 thumbnails for every video. Then I zoom out on my screen and look at them at a size similar to how they will look as an actual thumbnail to assess which is better.

The second one doesn’t get used for anything, but the extra time spent is always worthwhile in getting a thumbnail that’s just right.

Thumbnails. I definitely struggle with this one. When you flashed your screen of thumbnails up I was immediately drawn to the ones with large text and more text. The ones your circled in green I didn’t even notice until you circled them.

I find I am drawn to thumbnails that most people aren’t. As such, it takes discipline to try and make thumbnails that are appealing to the masses vs appealing to me.
