FORGETTING TO FILL IN SAFETY GAPS is a huge one! The amount of times this has happened to me is uncountable! Great video Lily!! Keep up the amazing work!!

The 5th one is so relatable, and me being a builder with majority wooden dominoes, it’s pretty difficult to avoid having uneven Type Walls or even Shorter than usual walls for that matter. One Mistake that I keep doing in never try out risky things in a setup just because I have an inner fear that it would fail. I am a Builder who builds maybe twice or thrice a week, and get to make one Setup a Day, so I always fear that the Setup might fail, and end up with a day with no setup. It’s a thing that I am trying to change, but it comes up with the consequence that I don’t get to upload as often as usual, which I find is better than making my domino setups too similar to my old ones. This is a great video you made Lily, would help the beginners a lot.

This is such a great helpful video! I definitely make some of these mistakes. My sister (who’s not a domino builder)said “you should make it kinda bad and sketchy so it falls easier” and my response was “no penny that’s not what Hevesh does” we look up to you ❤️

3:06 I find it ironic that it worked.
Anyways, very informative video Lily! I’ve made every single one of those mistakes one time or another throughout my 5 (nearly 6) years of building and I’ve been waiting for some time for someone who discusses these mistakes in a detailed angle!

3 is the most frequent one for me lol.
Also some mistakes that I do are putting a domino line to close to a big wall

Other common mistakes:
Forgetting to fill in a safety gap
making a tall structure fall first which crashes the other parts
building "back to front"
when a small part fails but you get so angry you decide to just knock the rest over
when you accidentally knock a part down while building, but then in an attempt to save it you dive into the rest of the dominoes
letting your cat in
playing soccer/catch in the house while forgetting you have a setup
playing with nerf guns
stomping

This video is useful to me. I often had done some mistakes while building dominoes. Forgetting to fill in safety gaps is the biggest mistake that I had ever done. I had this mistake in my final setup at Domino Rally 5 video. Anyway, this video will be useful to me. Thanks Lily for showing some ways to solve the mistakes! Keep on building! Lily!

Side note: The Number 3 mistake, it also had another way to avoid them. If you want to do a really compact setup, Instead of putting 2 dominoes of space. You can also do the barriers by taping sideways dominoes on the floor.

One of my biggest problems is trying to knock down a structure that’s too tall with a small to large set.

A field starter is a chain of 90 degree turns with one domino each, so it’s doable if you’re careful. But even then sometimes lines don’t fall, so using more dominoes is definitely recommended.

I see too sharp curves and other spacing problems often with new builders! Those improvements are major!

I would add: connection lines in a large setup that are timed too shortly, so that the next part will start before the previous one has finished toppling. It makes it chaotic to watch (sometimes that can be the desired effect, of course). For some reason it took me really long to learn that one.

Neat video. The thing that I tend to mess up on the most is testing piano lines... without thinking about the fact that if you knock down a piano technique from the middle, it falls both directions.

The last mistake is my most common one. My walls, and other structures, are really uneven.

So appropriate that 13 is the magic number to make a structure fall down. :)

On #2 it is not usually considered a mistake if you build this on a carpet. The friction is so high it reduces the chances of fails. This is important when making certain tricks that require carpets!
