Framing Interior Walls Pole Barn House Ep 15

I'm building and setting the interior stud walls in the pole barn house today. I went 16" spacing with 2x4 studs. I built the headers as load bearing but they don't need to be for this style building. This is episode 15 of building our pole barn house, if you want to see how we got to this point watch the previous episodes.

I hope this video helped you. Thanks for watching.

On setting that one stud wall by yourself I noticed that you lifted with your back. You should squat down, get your fingers around it and stand up. Lift with your legs. Ha! just a little coaching.

Your video series is spectacular. Thank you many times over, you're very generous with your time and knowledge. I too am a solo operator. Your tips on tacking alinement timbers in place, framing stops to adjacent walls and so on are excellent reminders to think things through. Very well done. Very well indeed. We're going to pull the trigger on our own house/shop soon. Your video series reassures the devoted wife that the project is manageable. For now she pretty much stays in the kitchen radeling those pots and pans but that's part of the plan too.

Thanks again and best regards young man!

I’m just finishing my Barndo up now. That’s some strong glue, but I wouldn’t have used it myself. I put thin foam down under my treated lumber to keep the moisture off of it. Even treated lumber eventually rots if it stays wet. The foam keeps the moisture away from your lumber. I held them in place with ramset nails.

Wow! Thank you for this video. We are looking into selling our current house and building a pole barn home as well. But I had concerns regarding framing. Thank you very much for the video. I truly believe we can do this as DIY people

This is really cool for a DIYer, to be able to do it at your own pace concealed away within the barn structure. But aside from that I’m wondering what the pros are of using the barn at all? If you have to frame it out anyway, what does doing it inside of a barn offer? Couldn’t you just frame everything out and then adhere metal cladding to the home if you wanted a metal exterior?

Great info! We want to build our home inside a historic wood barn, using the barn as a shell. The walls and ceiling would also act to strengthen the barn, since they would be almost touching the shell. The existing concrete floor shows signs of movement/cracking, so we'd like to 'float' the floor. We'd frame in floor joists to the new walls to enable that. Any resources you know of that would help guide us through this? Thanks.

How tight to the bottom of the truss did you build in order to still swing the wall up? 1/8"? Our shell is done, concrete pour tomorrow. Hoping to start framing next week. Our shell builder suggested we try to get the interior walls to right under the truss to add some load bearing capacity.

Thanks so.much for previous reply. you are amazing. Which #video best shows the connection of the post to the double truss or single end truss? I was planning on using. lamimating /gluing and screwing three 2x6 and leave the middle 2x6 a bit shorter at the top to connect with the bottom horiz. 2x6 of the truss and bolt it. any thoughts?

Sadly I have very tiny joists in my pole barn garage...I wish I had those huge ones you have.

Hi . Can you put Rocket Stove for heat the Pole barn house or not if all the pole barn build from the wood and the person can put side where to set the rocket stove heat and build it from Rock even the floor. Can i do that in my pole barn so it can't cost me when I use electric or even heat from gas?

Great video! Question: did you attach the top plates directly to the ceiling joists and/or trusses? Have you had any issues with truss uplift cracking the ceiling?

How do you attach the wood frame to the steel frame? Are their holes already drilled in the steel to bolt the wood studs to them?

Thanks for your videos! We are building a shop/house with heated floors and will start framing in a couple weeks. Your videos have been really helpful! I wanted to ask you about your stud spacing. It looks like you are using 16" centers, is that right? Is it possible to use 24" on the outside walls and 16" on the inside walls?

Excellent video! How did you insulate your cement slab? My concern is the edges and cold seeping through to inner floor

I may have missed it in an earlier episode but what wood are you using at the bottom of your interior walls, the board you glue down? I really appreciate you sharing this build. I am going to start on mine this summer.
