Something you missed is that selvedge is that it can't be mass produced because it has to take up the entire width of a spool of fabric (so it retains the edges of the fabric i.e. self-edge/selvedge), whereas other jeans can have their patterns mass stamped from any part of a large spool of fabric because their seams are sewn after stamping.

so sanforizing (or not) happens when the denim is still an uncut fabric.

raw (or not) happens after the denim is cut and sewn

if you take an unsanforized jean and stone wash, acid wash, etc. you will have sanforizied the jean in the process

"one wash" jeans are arguably "raw" jeans because the wash is not trying to alter the look or color of the jeans

this is my understanding. please correct if i am wrong
