Also the history of how all denim was selvedge until around the 60's when jeans became very popular and they started using a more productive type of loom... So you could say that selvedge denim is actually the original denim of jeans.

Rigid jeans used to be the only type of denim available. Jeans became more popular and everyone demanded softer 'broken-in' denim from the start instead of rigid jeans that took time and fairly intensive wear to become softer and less stiff. Stretch denim (so popular now) naturally has less cotton or natural fibers in it.

Selvedge looks good and I only cuff with a selvedge denim. It makes sense as it is a low key flex of apparel. I prefer stacking my pants as I am a short guy but do cuff on selvedge denim 30% of the time.

I bought a pair of those Sugar Cane ones you've got in your hand, the one with the snake skin patch, nearly 20 years ago at an outdoor market in Ueno like 20 years ago. One of my favorite pairs.

I think, when it comes to raw selvedge denim, the most significant aspect is that you literally form a bond with them and they become a partner in your life, a partner that "takes notes" on the life you live by fading, creasing, ripping, staining, etc... they're, in a way, a novel that tells the story of your life. I think it's a beautiful, spiritual connection that one forms with their jeans.

I love slevenge denim but i dont like it went its faded so i try my best to wash it less as possible special found in Japan are very expensive but i pull the trigger now i I think for a day to even wear it 😂

Should I do alterations or not? Do I need to go a specialist?
