Samsung Dryer Fail - FIXED See description for fixing this issue - Spins for few seconds, then quits

Model: Samsung gas dryer DV56H9100EG 2014 model.
Symptom: All cycles - starts normally, run for few seconds, then stops. It waits for about 5 minutes, then runs for few seconds and stops. This pattern repeats. No error code displayed on the screen.

Other option is to buy the entire motor which comes with the switch installed.

Thanks for the video, it helped a great deal. I'm going to add something that may help others that find their way to your video. If you are careful when you open the centrifugal switch, a small silver contact will fall out. It will look black from arcing. While it appears that a hole was burnt into the flexible copper arm, the arm was actually punched and the silver contact was press fitted into the hole. Had they soldered the contact after press fitting, it probably would have held forever. Without the solder, the copper is too weak to hold the contact after years of high heat and movement. I removed the arm from
the switch, put the contact back in the hole and used a hammer and punch to lightly hit the back of the contact until it spread out enough to once again fit tightly in the hole. Then I soldered the contact to the copper. Hopefully this will hold.

This helped out a lot! I replaced the fuse and the thermostat on my dryer and that didn't fix the problem. I then went on to replacing the pulley wheel and that still didn't fix the problem. After watching this video i took apart the centrifugal switch and made sure the wires were making contact. After reinstalling the centrifugal switch the dryer started working again. At this point I'm going to order a new motor which comes with centrifugal switch so i don't run into the same problem again.

Same problem for me. I took my switch apart and saw one of the contacts was missing a small piece the size of a tiny pebble at the end, leaving a circular hole. Without this tiny little piece at the end, the switch was no longer making proper contact when it changed positions. I fixed it by adding a little glob of solder at the end to make it thick enough to contact the other side of the switch when it actuated. Problem solved! Thanks so much for this video - I had read about this switch failing but didn’t know it was accessible on this motor.

Thanks so much for this post and the associated pictures. My Samsung dryer had this exact problem and once I opened it up and got to the centrifugal switch, it looked burnt out just like expected. I've ordered a replacement motor from Amazon for $75. Will reply post once I install it. I fully expect it will solve my issue. Cheers.

Wow!!! Thanks sooo much. The video is exactly what happened to my dryer. I fixed this issue by just playing around with the switch (doing nothing). I’m not sure if it will happen again though. Just fixed my dryer with your video. My switch was broken at the same place as yours. It was actually fused together. I used an emory file to get a clean connection and bent the metal connector with needle nose pliers.

Thanks!! Had the same issue and I tried to put the contact back to the level and it seems secure. Put the relay back and it works! Saved me few hundreds if not thousand if I choose to just replace whole machine as wifey is furious about broken dryer.
Updates on 3 months later: Same issue again and guess the high influx current just fried the contact again. This time I just buy the complete dyer motor assembly PN# DFS270ZSEL1 from Amazon for overnight delivery. I think I will just replace the switch and not the whole motor as I think the original motor is better bet. Hopefully this time the fix will last longer... Good luck every one!

Contacts on centrifugal switch were burnt not making good a wire brush to them and now dryer works fine

Where did you purchase the centrifugal switch if I might ask? Ours is doing the same thing... Last time I buy Samsung, but for now I would rather not buy a new dryer.

I had this exact same problem last month where my samsung dryer would start and after 3-4 second the dryer would shut off for like 2 minutes like clock work. I order a new motor sorry i cant remeber parts number but its the same dryer on this video. Also i replace a wheel balance and the wheel on the motor. Problem solved
