And NC was NEVER a lost cause. For whatever reason you had given up hope, but you were wrong to do so.

I live on the Intracoastal Waterway in NC near the SC border and can judge the way the political winds here are blowing via the number of TRUMP 2024 flags displayed on passing boats and on flag poles along the water. Couple of years ago it seemed 80% of the boats had them, now they are barely seen. Not sure that is due to any change in sentiment or just embarrassment.

In my lifetime, my home state of North Carolina has elected a Democrat for President only three 1960, 1976, and 2008. We 'preciate the NCGOP's help in making it number FOUR in 2024.

"How the state went from lost cause to battleground". If one looks at facts, the title is ridiculous and overly dramatic (but hey, need the clicks, right?).

NC voted for Trump by 53% in 2016 and by 51% in 2020. NC has had a Dem governor for eight years now, and Republicans lost their super majority in the legislature shortly after. NC hasn't been a lost cause for years. Unfortunately, NC Republicans have done such a good job gerrymandering districts that NC's people are not accurately represented at a national level.
