There is a big debate on social media about gentle parenting that is just plain wrong. The argument on one side is that we should be gentle and loving and put connection first. The other side responds that gentle parenting is ruining children and not setting enough limits or being in charge like parents need to be. This is a false debate. Yes, parents should strive to be loving and respectful and kind to their children. Everyone wants to be treated that way. But good, balanced parenting also involves teaching children consequences in a fair and kind way and setting limits with children in a firm and empathetic way.
