How to Fix a Bent Wheel Rim | Bike Repair

Learn a simple but effective way of straightening out a bent bike wheel.

This video is for anyone who wants to learn about emergency bike repair tips which don't require any tools. It is especially useful for MTB cyclists, where bent wheels can easily arise after falls or crashes.

A bent rim could be the difference between a short ride and a very long walk home. Fix bent wheel rims with the techniques outlined in this video. Always ride with extra caution once riding on a bent wheel rim.

This video is not a joke. If you seriously bend your wheel and are in the middle of nowhere use these tips! It could save you a long walk and you shouldn’t do this unless your actual rim is bent and not spokes that cause a minor warp. If you bend your rim badly you need a new one anyways.

0:57 This works surprisingly well, had a cheap wheel bent bad enough it rubbed horribly / really couldn't ride it, did this for a bit and it spun so straight I could hardly tell the rim was ever bent (had to smack the wheel into the ground multiple times for a while to get it straight). Did this to a few wheels with results that will get you riding again / back home. That is what this "fix" is for, to get you back on the road instead of walking home! Yes the wheel can be compromised even if it spins straight after this (of course this isn't a real repair), but is fine to get you out of the middle of nowhere! This is a worse case scenario quick fix, but can work and worth trying if you can't ride otherwise.

I've seen a guy straighten a wheel right on the bike by placing the crown of his head on the bend and wrapping his forearms around the wheel, using head pressure to focus the bending force .

Why don’t you just tighten and loosen the spokes? It’s a longer process but will be a lot less sketchy than stepping on a bent wheel

you can step on it while its on the bike that works for me its straight enough that my brakes work better than new now
i stepped on it to get it straight and it worked pretty good for me.

Hi, My cycle is made with Alloy wheel. Unfortunately I saw bend in it. Local service mans says to replace the bend, because they only know to repair for spoke wheel. Is there any solution for it!
