Sukkari is my favorite. It's so soft and gooey and sweet and goes perfectly with a cup of bitter Arabic coffee. The sweetness of the date and the bitterness of the coffee balance each other out perfectly

Iam from Panjgoor, a city in South Western Balochistan neighbouring Iran. Mentioned below are some of the dates that we grow and each of them has their own unique taste and textures.
1. Kaarubah ( a little grape like date filled with honey like juice when it ripens, not much to chew but one could eat ton of them).
2. Aabdandan ( Aab meaning water and dandan meaning teeth, actually its very soft even if it's not ripe. Dissolves instantly in your mouth and super sweet)
3. Mozzati ( A near cousin of Muzafati from your video)
4. Sabzo ( consumed well before ripening because it's way more crunchy and Juicy when it halfway through and gets its green/bluish colour)
5. Redag ( when ripe, it's texture is a little bit hard like a refrigerated Mars chocolate and way less sweet from other dates of our town, my personal favourite. A bit rare too.)
6. Alina ( A round yellow and medium sweet date it ripens too late, well near winters so it's a fresh date when there is none other.)
7. Rabai ( creamy and sweet flavour)
Others
8.begum Jungi
9. Sor
10. Shakar.
11. Dundairy
12. Zard .

For those wondering, different species of dates can be grown in different parts of the world. It's not like, for example, medjool can only be grown in cali. Additionally, if you're gonna try it for the first time, make sure to split them in half with your fingers to check for bugs(usually about 1/25 has bugs). Finally, i think the best way to describe the flavor of a date is; a rich, mature thick honey, slightly simmered with a bit of molasses and smoked flavor, occasionally dabbled with a floral accent. However this can change depending on the date you chose, however i find that this description is best applicable when enjoying a medjool. :)

The best majdoul comes from my homeland of Palestine. The palm trees of baisan have held dates for generations now Alhumdillah.

In Egypt there's 2 types of fresh dates that I love
one is deep red and sweet, it's called Zaghloul dates (بلح زغلول)
it also kinda dries your mouth, but you get used to it 😅
and the other is brown and even sweeter, it's called Amhary dates (بلح أمهري)
and it's not crunchy, it has a thin strong peel and super gooey on the inside

It's so funny to me how you always manage to eat the fruit when it's not ripe 😂
The fresh dates from what I remember in my childhood look very different when ripe. The skin can almost be peeled like it's not sticking to the date and the inside turns to this brown carmel translucent color and it gets really soft it immediately melts in your mouth and is super sweet . It used to be one of my favorite dates when I was a kid easily the softest dates ever

Sukkari any day of the week! I keep the dates in the fridge until they are hard and cold. There's just this feeling that I get whenever I bite into a hard cold date. Having them for Iftar after a hot day is an experience that never gets old. The dates quickly quench the thirst and that sweetness is second to none. I don't find the other dates that sweet. I randomly crave something sweet and Sukkari is my go-to. It is healthy and you only need to eat 1 or 2. Amazing dates

I never liked khajoor (dates) growing up, but until I went to Madina & Makkah in 2021 to do my Umrah I started to enjoy eating them. The dates fresh in Saudia Arabia - particularly Ajwah dates hit so different. Ajwah is definitely my favourite there. We went to a date farm and had Ajwah fresh and it was insane how soft and melt-y they were in your mouth.

Climate really does impact dates. Eating them in their heritage climates is truly important to get the full date experience.

ive only had mazafati and medjool dates honestly (although i prefer mejdool tbh) but ive heard from my parents that before they left iraq, they used to have multiple birhi date trees and that these dates were better than any variety they've had since coming to the west. the fresh date you had looks a lot like the fresh birhi dates they described to me ^-^

When describing the flavor of a date, you can use words such as sweet, caramel-like, rich, and earthy. You may also describe the texture as chewy and soft, with a slight nuttiness. Additionally, you can mention any notes of honey, molasses, or vanilla that you taste. The flavor can vary depending on the type of date, so it's important to specify which variety you're describing.

Medjool dates are now grown in various parts of the world, but they were originally cultivated in Morocco 🇲🇦, where they have been an important part of our local cuisine for centuries.

I fell in love with Sukkari dates when I went for Umrah. The hotels give them to you with some strong, bitter tea. When they're "fresh", soft, gooey, and super sweet I can eat a dozen easily. Before trying Sukkari dates, I was indifferent to dates my entire life.

If the fresh dates are making your mouth dry, then they aren't ripe enough. Fresh ripe dates are lovely, with a gentle juicy sweetness to them and the crunch makes it very satisfying to eat.
