I asked my dad to play smash with me.
He looked at the characters for a decent amount of time and then he took jigglypuff.

I just gravitated toward the character that felt the most fun and natural, and to my surprise, Yoshi connected with me first for that reason. He’s super strong and not terribly technical to play. Olimar was also my main for a while because I did like that he was more technical, and I also liked the idea of kicking people’s ass with a little dweeb character. I went to a local tourney and in the first round when I picked Olimar people scoffed “Olimar?!” and then I won and shut them up.
