Cervical cancer was once a leading cause of cancer deaths among women in the US and remains a leading cause of cancer death in many areas of the world. However, we now have the potential to prevent the infection that causes this cancer and affect the lives of over 500,000 women annually. Unfortunately, despite an impressive arsenal of tools which now include multiple vaccines, we have failed to convince the public that this cancer is worth preventing. In this talk, Dr. Shalini Kulasingam will highlight those failures and outline future directions.
