I'm actually writing a paper about the issues of the marine and environment in New Zealand and had heard the term Kina Barren and didn't know what the hell that was (thought it was an animal) since it was said to wipe out kelp forest. this video helped a lot in realizing what that actually means. Thanks! I'm a little personally cringed about eating urchins but I suppose its no different then eating live oysters or clams which is prevenient were I come from since I live in a coastal community.

we have those long spine ones at my inlet rocks here in not sure when we snag them when fishing that we'll be eating them. I would if I was in NZ, because I'm big into assimilation...hahaha.
