Harrier jet is by far my favorite...I got to expireance several taking off while I was on tour on the uss kersarge in 1996!! I looked forward so many days while on deployment on ship to have the opportunity to see them lift up vertically and within seconds be outta sight from the massive force of thrust shooting the jet forward!! One my most memorable times while I served with the US marine corp!!

Think you forgot the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey
I did not know there had been so many V/STOL planes in the world. I have only heard of three.
Good video.

Careful model selection to infer that the Harrier was specifically developed in the US for the Marines. This misrepresentation of facts just reduced the credibility of the channel. Very disappointing.

And the harrier 1 invented and built in the United kingdom, was a major contribuiter in helping the british win the falklands war in 1981/2, infact some might say won the war becouse of the harrier .

HOLD IT! The Lockheed XF-V "Salmon" isn't the only tail-sitting VTOL plane at that time, there was also the Convair Pogo, which you also have footage shown as well as some pics, and that's a different aircraft from another maker (at that time)

No mention in detail of the British Harrier jump jet fighter that was fully design in Britain and fully operational for the RAF and RN. They took part in the Falkland War 1982 with distinction and retired a few years ago, by being replaced with F-35B`s. Thank you for excellent informative video.

I especially like the British Harrier... You know, the design which the Americans used to develop their version.... How can you make a list of VTOL's and not even dropping the word "English" or "British" ???? Incredible facts indeed, and a warped vision of the world. It's like talking about the best beers in the world, without mentioning Belgium, but talking over and over about the great American beers... which are completely based on Belgian beers. Odd, very very odd.

No mention of Yak-41/141 technology being transferred (along with some engineering staff) to Lockheed-Martin in the 90’s and being later used for the VTOL F-35 development?
