Very nice, I worked for a gentleman when I was in high school, he had a similar machine to sharpen his chains for his logging/milling business, it was not as fast as this. The cutter was sharpened then the 2nd raker was ground with a separate grind stone, I could have a 20" chain razor sharp in 11 minutes. This was in 1975. Thanks for the video.

Woah that's allot faster than doing rakers by hand with a file and gauge.

I do the same thing with a new chain, except i do it by hand. If you don't have the eye to do it by hand, then buy a Granberg G-106B, or the Granberg Precision 12 volt chainsaw chain grinder. The biggest problem is using to big of a file. Like on a 3/8 it calls for a 7/32 file, using this file you'll never get it to cut like one of Chainsaw Guys chains. You have to drop down to a 3/16 and you'll get a razor sharp chain. Keep rakers at .025. I've filed by hand for 56 yrs, i logged full time for 36 yrs. In hardwood i kept my rakers at .025, in softwood .035. I kept my chainsaws razor sharp all the time. As soon as it lost the edge, i'd drop and file where ever i was. It takes about one to two minutes to put the edge back on the chain. I can teach anybody how to file their saw so its razor sharp.

Did you make that depth gauge grinder? Or is that a commercial item?

Definitely a good thing to have if you have a longer bar, i personally though just freehand in the field but at home i use one of those Husqvarna sharpening gauges especially on my X-cut chain since it's a harder chain to sharpen and that gauge helps keep the right elevation of the file.

I am trying to get my dads old chainsaw up and running again it's been sitting for about 7 years after he passed. It's a Husqvarna 242 (1990 ) it needs a new 16" chain and bar, it's had a full service including carb kit now runs smooth. I am interested in one of your chains how can I purchase one for my 242 ?
