when you use the limiter that way it doesnt soft clip, it hard clips so the distortion its way harder, its just a tip good knowing.

5 years in and my lack of "a daily effort" held back my growth. Cook up, study on youtube, rest, repeat. And you will nail the mix through experience💯🤝

Having good source sounds is an important point you made. Making bad samples sound better than they are is challenging. Nice video my friend 😎👍🏼

Tip that is so basic but incredibly important: If you ever feel like you have to bend over backwards and beg the software to let the kick pop through the mix then you probably just need to grab a different kick. Some kicks are all about the bass, some kicks have almost no bass but a lot of high end. So if you’re trying to stack a kick with an 808, don’t grab the long kick with a lot of trail, grab the short kick with more high end.

-Experimentation is how you figure out the best kicks to go with different basses but generally if you’re trying to play it simple then just use a ball or rack kick with your 808s. On the opposite side of the spectrum, if you want your kick to have a lot of the bass content then choose a bass sound with more of a mid to high presence. And always, ALWAYS, sidechain your kicks to your 808s. There is almost no scenario where layering a kick with an 808 won’t clash. The only case where I know it can work is with a rack or ball kick and a spinz 808, but even then, the second you change the note of the 808 and the waveform changes, it will clash. So just sidechain and figure out how to do it well, if you sidechain too much then the 808 will not sit very well in the mix.

i LOVE how you didn’t just say “this is how you do this” you really promote creativity by giving several different ways to do one thing in your own style n give a lot of opportunity to experiment. much love on that💯🖤

I feel like everyone changes their basic go to mixes like once a year 😂 everytime i figure “yeah that’s it” i’ll end up changing the overall basic mix half a year later bc i think “nah, kick’s too loud, melodies too low” yada yada 😂

I listen to all your videos but I never comment. But since it is an opportunity to have the chance to access to your drumkit. I want to take the time to say that you are goated and you make anything complex really easy to assimilate by the way you explain it. Keep doing that great stuff and I give you all my support from Montreal🙏🏻

You are right bro. Most producers think they have to remove all that low end on a melody. If it works with the 808 keep it in. It gives your beat a more warm sound instead of sounding too thin.
