Gainstaging is a Important thing too!
Let your sounds peak on -18db average. You can use a VU Meter to (0db average). You will get the best Sound in most cases because your „analog“ Plugins are designed to work best at these levels.
The signal path goes to your plugins first so keep in mind to do this BEFOR your Fader.

gainstaging and leveling at a low volume + in mono is all u need to do

the rest can obviously be done in stereo, but if ur making a sound stereo, such as a drum sample, do it in mono so it doesn’t phase weird

What I usually do is I'll play everything at the loudest I can handle. Once I turn everything down and blend. I then turn my volume down all low as I can possibly go and still hear everything and then see if I can still hear everything blending smoothly. If not then I fix it, and if so then I'm ready to move on.

I agree to the point about faders. Faders have more finer control around 0db because of the logarithmic control. I gainstage with plugins and finetune with faders around 0db.

That’s true, but I prefer to adjust the gain so faders around around zero. I always leave plenty of headroom and bring it back up using the L3.

yea turn the master all the way up, adjust your sounds peaking no louder than bout -12db and then reset the master.

Thats what i figured myself, i switch off my monitors and listen to only my headphones but put em on the desk not on my head, then listen and turn down really loud instruments and balance them..Great stuff.
