3:15 I bet people already told you about it, but playing over the wire in MPD is 3 lines of configuration, was supported since 2011 and I even used to have a public web-radio streaming via MPD. Was really wholesome 🔰

Does Mopidy save the meta-data from music from Spotify? Not the music itself, but the data needed to find the music elsewhere should you stop using spotify?

`mopidy-mpd` + `mopidy-ytmusic` + `mpc` work out of the box without any config other than `mopidy ytmusic setup` (and that's only needed if you want to be logged in to YTM). On Arch:

yay -S mopidy-mpd mopidy-ytmusic mpc
mopidy # run once and quit (ctrl+c) to create ~/.config/mopidy/mopidy.conf
mopidy ytmusic setup # follow on-screen instructions to log into ytm
mopidy & # run in background on startup (or set as service)

# bind to multimedia keys:
mpc play
mpc toggle # it's play/pause
mpc next; notify-send "$(mpc current --wait)"
mpc prev; notify-send "$(mpc current --wait)"
mpc volume +10%

Currently there's an issue with `ytmusicapi` versions so you might have to install an older one manually, e.g.:

Great not-a-tutorial, thanks! Why is the spelling of ncmpcpp so hard for people to remember? It simply stems from the initial mpd client (mpc) which shortly thereafter was fancified using ncurses which adopted the common "nc" prefixing of the root program name. Then some years down the road, a new and improved take on ncmpc arrived named for whatever reason (++?) with a "pp" suffix. Hopefully this resolves any difficulties in remembering the name. Another great player that came out around the same time as ncmpc was moc, it was much simpler to use and played both local files and streams alike with no special config needed. I still use it to this day, although now I mostly keep it populated with m3us for different internet radio stations. I just choose a station, close it, let it run in the background and display the title in my conky.
