History should always teach you both sides the good, bad, and ugly. If you are offended by it than you learned the lesson.

When you don’t learn about history you risk repeating it.

We need to learn about history. Not just the winners and the side we agree with, but the losers and the side we disagree with as well.

My parents lived through China’s Cultural Revolution. Even today they refuse to let me insult Chairman Mao. The irony, my in laws own Chinese Shar Peis. Mao had them destroyed. When I brought that up to my parents they asked me not to insult the guy.

Speaking of treatment to Native Americans, the Oklahoma legislature recently passed a law known as HB1775, which prevents the Osage murders in the 1920s from being taught in their schools.

I'm surprised that whole WW2 isn't mentioned with Japan, as Japanese school books basically teach that Japan was just chilling and US was like "Oh guys, you're so chill, let me warm you up!"dropped 2 nukes and occupied Japan...
And I'm surprised that milosevic part is about Croatia dropping his name from the books, not Serbia...

Yeah I can attest to this. I never heard of the Tulsa Massacre until the Watchmen. That's something that we should've learned in school!

You missed the Tulsa Race Massacre.

It shouldn’t have been left to the HBO series Watchmen to teach us about one of the worst incidents of racial violence in US history.

It is also worth noting that the USA also had Residential Schools. They based their system off of what Canada had, but Canada is in no way alone in committing this atrocity. The US is right there with us in the seat of shame. It just hasn’t been talked about in the US yet.

The victors write history but what happens when they lose down the line? Great video.

The idea of learning history is to learn the good, bad, and ugly side and what leads up to the current events and may find a solution to fix

I'm slightly surprised "African History" in general is not listed. Because the only thing we learned about it in schools from the fall of the Ptolmeic Empire to World War II is that "slavery happened."

I can name 20 different English monarchs. A dozen Roman Emperors. Not a single African king.

Not sure if I'm the only amateur historian to remember the quote of "Those the don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it." George Santayana.

History need to be told in its entirety not bits and pieces to fit the narrative of your agenda

What about how They're trying to say that the people of the transatlantic slv trade were migrant worker rather than slvs... I think that should been on the list too, giving it is American history

My oldest known ancestors in America were a Bantu man married to an English woman in 1630’s Virginia. I visited the plantation where the two of them lived and worked. They had a great grandson that later sadly couldn’t marry the woman he loved shortly after VA passed laws to stop interracial marriage.

0:08 "This is a photo of my family..." as he points with his middle finger. Maybe a Freudian slip.?..

I wish my high school would have had another year or two of world history covering more things. It was one of the more interesting subjects, , but also the most cherry picked. given that the world is a big place and we've been on it for quite a while making stupid mistakes.

It's the responsibility for individuals from each community to keep their experiences alive. Don't allow any jar of mayonnaise to dictate the experiences, especially people of African descent. They have no authority to tell you about the experiences people of Africa have had in Amerikkka. Period

Ten? When I look back on what I learned in school, 50% of it was pure lies. Furthermore, during my 59 years on Earth, I've seen historical events I've lived through and witnessed become completely warped in the retelling.

I’m just thankful I was taught about the history of the Holocaust back in middle school. I look at the world completely different now
