I had an older Samsung tv hooked up to an AV receiver that I set up with the FireTV cube. Everything worked great, except whenever I had it turn on the tv, after a few seconds the AV receiver would be changed to TV input no matter which power and input options I set up on the FireTV. The cure for this was to go into the TV's setup and change it to "display only." What was happening was, the TV was taking charge of the receiver and switching it to TV. If you can't get your Samsung TV (or TV with a similar menu and setup software) to act right with your FireTV, set it up as "display only", and it will be ready to do whatever the FireTV tells it to do, instead of attempting to assert control over the AnyNet(HDMI-CEC) interface FireTV uses to talk to it.

My 2nd gen worked fine to control my Samsung tv and Visio sound bar but this new 3rd gen one will not. It detects that I have a Samsung TV but it will not turn it off during the setup process. Won’t do it to my sound bar either. Anyone else figure out how to get past that issue?

Found out why my cube stopped working on voice control. I had turned off, turn off all notifications. Plus you need Alexa notifications on
