I saw Tommy play in Estes Park two years ago. He had just come back from his brother's funeral in Australia and then, within just a few days, had had to take care of business in LA and Nashville. When he came out on stage you could see he was clearly exhausted from all the travel and the grief over his brother's death. And then he started playing... and he put on an amazing concert. The music revived him in an almost miraculous way and he played with great intensity and passion. I've been to 6 of his concerts but that was the best ever. Afterwards, when he signed the CD I had bought he even gave me a hug. What a guy.

Is it just me or do all of TE's songs literally sound like a conversation? I swear I can hear questions and answers all through his songs, including this one. Almost as if the guitar is actually singing. It's a skill I wish I could capture. I am convinced that right now, Tommy is pound for pound the best guitarist on the planet (and I have a ton of influences). Just a beautiful, emotional piece. Definitely left a few tears in my eyes. RIP, Phil.

This is a wonderful tribute to Phil, and one of the most beautiful of Tommy's compositions. Tommy and Phil were both masters, each with his own style. But when they played together, it was as though they were one person. It had to have taken a huge chunk out of Tommy's heart when he lost his brother.
