You know, I was coming across a video of some other popular virtuoso guitarist, Alexandr Misko, playing one of his own original songs, with bendy thingies on his headstock, special tuners, doing a lot of tapping and whatnot. While that's all super impressive in its own right, another style of fingerstyle playing altogether, it just doesn't grab me as much as Tommy Emmanuel's songs can because it's just too complex and complicated to look at and listen to.. To me, at least..
Tommy Emmanuel is this poetic guitarist who paints pictures in my head with his melodies in which I can almost hear words, and his songs invoke emotions in me. That, to me, is magical..

Beautiful. Tommy Emmanuel. No cleaner guitar player, picker, strummer, anywhere, period.

What I always loved about Chet Atkins was that through his fine playing, his personality came out. There is a smile, a passion, and a seriousness all rolled into to one. Tommy Emmanuel exhibits all of this. He is a master craftsman. Above all that, he still finds ways to reach for just the right notes. He finds them, and controls every nuance of them. He pairs them, and has the uncanny ability to play and position them. Each day, a new way.
As a guitarist, and finger picker myself, I can tell you, what he plays is not easy, but Tommy will sure take the time to show you.

Thank you Mr. Emmanuel for reminding us what is good in the world.
