The Time Kobe's Legacy Was On The Line, And He...Responded?

There are some videos on my channel from a very long time ago where I loved the concept, but I made them so early on that the quality is just abysmal and unwatchable in my opinion.
Occasionally I want to go back and update them with better audio/writing so they can be enjoyed for years to come.
Happy Bday Kobe.

Dom's legacy was on the line this year during Boston vs. Miami Game 7.

That Magic team is disgustingly underrated. They faced 3 60+ win teams that postseason. They had to take out a 62 win team in the semifinals just to make the conference finals where they were rewarded with a 66 win team and after all that, they get rewarded with yet another team 60+ win team in the Lakers.

Happy Birthday Mamba. We miss you every day. That game 7 in 2010 will always stick with me. A tough grind it out defensively minded battle with Kobe not shooting his best but when it came to coming up clutch in big moments down the stretch in that game, Kobe as he always did delivered.

As a former kobe hater I couldn't stand how this series ended, but at the time didn't realize that i had witnessed one of the greatest finals series of my lifetime.

The original lebron video was actually what got me to seriously follow basketball. Still go back to it once every couple of months.

I've posted this on like 50 different videos but what made Kobe's 2010 run was so impressive was the broken finger, and severe knee injury he was playing with, following the 2010 Finals he had his 3rd right knee surgery and since his cartilage was mostly gone his knee was described as almost bone on bone.
In 2008 Kobe did come up short in Games 4 and 6, so on top of the 2004 Finals disaster his legacy would be a lot more criticized but Lakers were an overmatched team.

2010 was a complicated series. Kobe despite playing through injuries averaged 29.5 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 4.2 apg, 2.3 spg on 55.7% ts in the first six games, which given how good the Celtics defense was in those playoffs and they were really zoned in trying to stop Kobe it as really impressive.
His 6-24 shooting really damaged his efficiency but he did grab 15 boards and have an impressive drtg of 93. One of the big reasons Lakers won was cause they had Kobe often guard Rondo, he didn't shut him down but did a better job than two other elite defensive teams: the Cavs and Magic

Kendrick Perkins going down in G6 was a bad break for the Celtics. But on the flip side Andrew Bynum went down early in G4. Now obviously Bynum came back for the last 3 games but wasn't as effective.
G1-3 he averaged 13.3 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 2.7 bpg on 52% fg
G4-7 he averaged 3 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 0.5 bpg on 35% fg
At least Lakers still had Bynum unlike in 2008 but the severely cut production didn't help the Lakers who thankfully still had Odom, the rest of the bench was subpar

Honestly, it would be really cool if you re-made the 2011 Mavericks Championship Run video you made in like 2016 - that was how I was introduced to you... especially with Dirk retired and it being a decade plus, it would be nice to see you re-do that, love your work Dom!

I love covers like these. When the media/nba youtubers give a player their props rather than tear them down for clicks. That’s what it should really be about.

Since you’re just recounting pain, you can definitely do “Curry legacy on the line” and how he responded by Beating the Cs in 2022.

You tripping about that Lebron legacy assessment. No one has ever played with as much help as Bron. AD hits the big shot to save his legacy in the bubble, Kyrie hit the big shot in Cleveland and Ray Allen in Miami. This video is revisionist history that sounds like a narrative constructed by Max Kellerman and Nick Wright. Bron losing to Dallas and San Antonio with the HEATLES is way worse a lose than Kobe losing to that Celtics team.
