I am developing a deep appreciation for Kobe. He was once my favorite player as MJ was trasitioning out of the league, and then I started appreciating Lebron more and Kobe less. As Im growing older and seeing what Kobe stands for and the depth of his character and his insight and integrity, I see that how different he is from most athletes and ppl in general. Bruce Lee said the ultimate goal is to be able to express yourself freely and honestly and Kobe is the epitome of that.

I hate how people want to constantly categorize and label players like Kobe in a way that is easier for them process, you see sports analysts do it all the time using metrics and stats, some trying to argue Kobe is not in the top 10 some trying to argue hes in the top 5 but as Kobe said in this video it is all fickle and a limited way to look at things. The most important way to measure where a player ranks is how they inspired people, strived to be great, entertained the fans, improved the league and played on the court. It is not always as simple as FG%, point totals and assists or rings and MVP's. Though Kobe excelled in both these manners its just worth remembering as I think people get too caught up in counting accolades and miss the bigger picture.
