Majdal Shams residents demonstrate against Netanyahu’s arrival at site of strike

Residents of Majdal Shams gathered on Monday to demonstrate against the arrival of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the site of a strike in the occupied Golan Heights.

Protesters reportedly chanted “get out of here, get out of here, you’re not welcome here” and called Netanyahu a “criminal” and a “fascist”.

Twelve youths aged between 10 and 16 were killed when a rocket struck a football pitch on Saturday, triggering renewed fears of an escalation in the conflict between Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah armed group accused by Israel and the US of firing the projectile. Hezbollah has denied involvement in the attack.
