Live Chat: EU beach clean-up

On 25 March 2018, DG Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the European Commission (DG MARE), with the support of the NGO Surfrider Foundation Europe and Eneco, organised a beach clean-up (#EUbeachcleanup) by EU staff members on the Belgian coast to raise awareness around the problem of marine litter and show we do our bit for #OurOcean. On this occasion, Karmenu Vella, Member of the EC in charge of Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, who participated in the Eneco Clean Beach Cup, was interviewed by a journalist about initiatives to reduce marine litter and the new plastics strategy.
