Unboxing Delaware: What It's Like Living In Delaware

Is Delaware boring?
Is Delaware growing SUPER fast?
And does Delaware have awesome beaches?

We’ll answer those questions and more. So let’s pull up our anchors and get ready to set sail. We’re gonna unbox the state of Delaware!

Oooh. What a pretty beach. It’s not often you find a calm, tranquil beach up here in the northeast like this. Many beaches in this part of the country are way overcrowded and dirty. But not this beach. Nuh uh. This is Bethany Beach. It’s one of Delaware’s MANY great beaches. A lot of people from all over the area come to Delaware’s beaches in the summertime. That sounds like a GOOD thing, but all those people flocking to this part of the state means there’s no room for the locals!

No one wants annoying Pennsylvania, Maryland and DC people here right? But these are the closest nicest beaches for many Americans, and there’s no sign at the state line saying they can’t come. Can you blame them for flocking here? I mean look at the place. Delaware beaches are regularly called some of the cleanest beaches in the country.

But there’s a lot more to Delaware than just neat beaches. I mean this place is HUGE! Actually it’s tiny. There’s still sort of a lot going on here in the Diamond State. If you’re thinking of making Delaware YOUR home one day, you need to know the ins and outs of this state so you know where the perfect place is for you and your perfect little family.

This is Delaware.

I love this state. So many secret places to hang out, and each county is basically its own jig, and when we all come together we can do something beautiful.

My husband was from Delaware and though born in wilmington he grew up in Lewes (glad you pronounced it correctly). We shopped there when we lived in Maryland. He loved the slower, lower lifestyle. You didn't mention pumpkin chucking and the apple scrapple festival. In Dover Bylers grocery store is a tourist attraction because of the Amish.

Don’t even think about having an affair in Delaware. Everyone knows someone who knows YOU or your paramour.

Lived in Delaware my whole life. Went to Philly for about 8 years and came right back to Wilmington. To outsiders it's boring, but you have to be down to know where the fun is. Wilmington is more carved up than you explained. I like how you can bounce from different scenery and cultures in literally a few minutes. Crime is crazy in Wilmington, but if you're not in the game you're relatively safe.

Not many people know this, but boredom was invented in Delaware back in 1833.

Traffic always been bad in Delaware. I grew up in Delaware. Because you got people from NJ and new York and Maryland and PA.

You forgot that if 95 and rt 1 are closed the whole state is basically a huge traffic jam

Just moved to Delaware and absolutely LOVE IT! Live near the agriculture area in Dover. House prices are unreal. Huge homes with great prices. Best thing we ever did was buying our home here in Kent County. Delaware has everything you would want. Great food, amazing beaches, tax free shopping and amazing Amish stores!

Delaware. The first state in the union, but the last state anyone really thinks about. Small and relatively peaceful. Never been there, but it would be nice!

I bought my 1st home at 21 for 87k sold for 197k, 2nd home 170k and sold for 320k, 3rd 300k and sold for 589k and buyers paid all closing costs expenses etc... It is possible and very lucrative as long as all steps and details are followed|

I learned a few things from this video but one thing that really stood out to me is, Nick Johnson HATES Baltimore, Maryland.

Keep up the interviews of locals Nick - Really adds a valuable dimension to your efforts... Work that has had a steady rate of marked improvement over the years. Nice work!

I love Delaware. Tax free, access to surrounding states, and easy to drive through.

Growing up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, if my parents were throwing a dinner or bridge party, I knew that meant a shopping trip to Delaware. Much cheaper booze than the PA state stores.

Delaware born and raised, the place I grew up in is/was an Italian-American neighborhood located next to the historic area of New Castle.

You did a good job researching Delaware! I‘m especially impressed that you correctly pronounced „Hockessin“ and „Newark“. Mispronunciations are a dead giveaway that someone isn’t from here. 😀

Spent part of my childhood in Wilmington, DE, and graduated from high school there, and 4 months after I graduated, I joined the Army and got the hell out of there. Once you leave New Castle county and go past the C&D canal, you might as well be in Mississippi. I'm so glad that I had relatives in NYC, D.C.. NJ and Philly, lol, people I went to school with barely knew me because I was always somewhere else during weekends, and summertime. The only thing I miss about Delaware is fishing on the Brandywine River, which is probably the most unknown great Smallmouth Bass river in the country.
