What is Gypsum Board and how is it made? You may not have heard of it before, but there's a good chance you've been inside a building that uses gypsum board! In 60-seconds, we'll give you an inside look at how gypsum makes it from our facilities to your home!

There are two types of gypsum we use to produce our products - natural gypsum and synthetic gypsum. Natural gypsum is made from rocks and was used to build the pyramids! Synthetic gypsum is created by using co-products of industrial processing. These products get turned into powder and then mixed together with our special secret blend of ingredients to create a slurry. This slurry gets sandwiched in between two layers of paper and sent down our conveyor belts to dry out which is how we get the boards. Then we trim the boards before they get labeled, stacked and shipped all over the country.

Since 1965, Georgia-Pacific Gypsum has been committed to developing the highest quality gypsum building products in the industry. Our versatile ToughRock® gypsum boards are ideal for a wide range of commercial and residential interior applications, and our Dens® family of high-performance fiberglass mat-faced gypsum products offer exceptional strength and superior moisture, mold and fire resistance. Now, more than 50 years later, our tireless spirit of innovation continues to inspire us to create groundbreaking gypsum products designed to help members of the building community construct the highest quality commercial and residential buildings.
