In this workshop award winning textile artist Trudi Pollard gives an introduction to natural dyes. She explains how you can use plants you can find in your own garden and in the bush to create the most amazing dyes. Visit Pollard Designs for more information and to download your complimentary workbook.

A message from Trudi to all her viewers:
Thank you all for watching, I hope you learned and enjoyed , these sessions I presented . Thank you to “ The Team “ Andrew Pheasant, Karen Hudson , Helena Pollard , Celine and Gregoire. I could not have done it without you . Thank you to the City of Armadale for supporting Artists, through their creative isolation project. And of course a big thank you to Mother Nature who provided all I needed .

From JAK:

JAK has been privileged working with Trudi and Helena. We have learnt so much from them and they have made our job so much easier as they quickly learnt the ropes in regards to making films. Two very special people and we are delighted that we have been able to help share Trudi's amazing knowledge of making natural dyes.

I wish all of us here could sit with her in her kitchen and garden to learn and be all together!

My mom was raised on a farm in S.Italy in the 30’s and 40’s and she knew the secret to all the natural dyes. Her family’s farm was very self sufficient. Made their own soap from used olive oil and ash water. They would dye stockings with coffee. Nuts and onions for brownish & tan colors.

The fabric at the end was incredible. No industrial process could ever achieve so beautiful results such as these. ❤

My first time to dye in more than a square of material. Big fun. Your skills are many and I would be grateful if you would do more videos on each of your lovely dyeing and then on the sewing of garments, slow stitching and the use of wooden buttons and door shavings!! I've been a crafter for many years and unless we use technology, all our work will die out. Bless you.. Marion
