This lecture is about the world's first scientific revolution [Ionian physics] and its cultural consequences. This new science destabilized the polis and demanded a new response that was intellectually respectable in this new context. Socrates and Plato and Aristotle took up the challenge of creating a new rational monotheism that modified all of the human sciences.
